Nashville folk-pop artist Genna Matthew’s sound is distinctly bittersweet — like a dose of truth chased with honeyed vocals. Her songwriting cuts deep, set in a dreamy indie-pop atmosphere that blurs the line between her story and yours.

Raised on the folk and Americana sounds of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains and later shaped by her time at Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain, her songwriting is rooted in timeless, folk-leaning storytelling with innate pop sensibilities. Now based in Nashville, her debut full-length record, Broken Record — produced by Jake Finch (Lucy Dacus, Ashe) — has surpassed 3 million streams across platforms. Genna is currently releasing new music off her sophomore project with Jake, Strike Twice, set to be released in October 2026.

Over 3M Streams across platfotms

“Broken Record” incapsulates the bittersweet lifecycle of heartbreak, from unhindered young love, to the ache of love lost, and the self-discovery it takes to heal. In collaboration with producer Jake Finch, Genna’s folk-inspired and lyric-forward songwriting is wrapped in a lush indie-pop atmosphere. Drawing from influences like Phoebe Bridgers, Muna, Kacey Musgraves and The Japanese House, this record is intended to make you cry-sing with the windows down, and come back for more.
